题名:When fast thinking meets bad emotion: The effect of intuitive processing modes and negative moods on moral hypocrisy

摘要:Moral hypocrisy characterized by "double standards" at the interpersonal level and "value-behavior inconsistency" at the intrapersonal level. The inconsistency in previous findings regarding the effects of intuitive processing modes on interpersonal moral hypocrisy may stem from differences in ego depletion and cognitive load. In three studies, we investigate the effects of intuitive processing modes and negative moods on moral hypocrisy. Study 1 explored the effects of these two intuitive processing modes on interpersonal hypocrisy. Study 2 further examined the combined influence of negative moods and intuitive processing modes on interpersonal hypocrisy, whereas Study 3 extended this framework from interpersonal hypocrisy to intrapersonal hypocrisy. We found that (a) under neutral mood conditions, cognitive load significantly reduced interpersonal and intrapersonal moral hypocrisy; (b) at the same time, ego depletion significantly increased interpersonal moral hypocrisy, whereas only marginally increased intrapersonal moral hypocrisy (p = 0.053); (c) under negative mood conditions, both intuitive processing modes increased interpersonal moral hypocrisy, but did not significantly increase intrapersonal moral hypocrisy. We further delineated the influence of distinct intuitive processing modes on moral hypocrisy.

题名:Pre-search attentional focus supports learned suppression in visual search

摘要:Salient distractors often capture our attention, disrupting ongoing tasks. Recent studies suggest that, through statistical learning, prior experiences regarding distractor locations can reduce distraction by suppressing their corresponding loca tions. However, the proactive neural mechanisms supporting this learned suppression remain unclear. Our findings demon strate that participants learn to suppress locations that are more likely to contain distractors relative to other locations. Using fre quency tagging in EEG recordings, we observed significantlydifferent tagging responses between high- and low-probability locations, along with a general decrease in alpha power (8–12 Hz) before search onset. Notably, the higher tagging frequency power at high-probability locations suggests that participants allocated greater attentional focus to these loca tions in anticipation of the search. These results suggest that anticipatory attentional deployment precedes the suppression of high-probability distractor locations after the onset of visual search.

题名:Optimization of Multimodal Classroom Teaching in International Chinese Education through AIGC

摘要:Multimodal teaching creates a vibrant and engaging learning environment for students by seamlessly integrating various sensory inputs such as vivid visual stimuli like colorful images, videos, and interactive graphics, along with rich auditory stimuli including clear spoken language, background music, and sound effects. Currently, there is a lack of multimodal teaching materials in international Chinese education classrooms, and AI-generated content offers a solution to this issue. We utilized text-to-image technology to randomly generate images based on textbook content, selecting six images at random for image quality verification based on the consistency between text and image, indicating that AIGC technology produces high-quality multimodal teaching resources. Based on the aforementioned detection, this paper proposes a framework for the application of text-to-image technology in teaching, which includes summarizing the prompt, image generation, and optimized editing. Based on this framework, we conducted practical applications of AIGC multimodal teaching resource generation. We selected 180 adult international students from diverse backgrounds and nationalities who were learning Chinese in China for the experiment. After the experiment, which included weekly assessments and interactive sessions, we meticulously analyzed the effectiveness of the teaching data. This analysis was complemented by in-depth interviews with participants, revealing that the innovative use of text-to-image technology significantly increased classroom attendance rates and question response rates. Vibrant visuals bridged language barriers, making complex concepts accessible and enhancing immersion in international Chinese education. This led to improved studentengagement and academic performance. Based on the above theoretical and practical findings, this paper highlights the advantages of AIGC in promoting personalized learning, creating immersive learning environments, facilitating diverse learning methods, and providing high-quality learning resources in international Chinese education classrooms. However, it also points out potential issues such as information disorder, the transformation of teacher roles, legal and ethical concerns, and doubts about the reliability of technology. In consideration of the comprehensive analyses presented, this study meticulously offers a set of well-considered recommendations specifically tailored for the application of AIGC in various classroom activities. These activities are situated within the broader context of international Chinese education, a domain that is increasingly recognizing the potential of technological advancements. By integrating AIGC into classroom practices, the study aims to enhance the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning experiences, thereby fostering deeper and more meaningful progress in the field of international Chinese education.

题名:Sex difference in the neural correlates of volitional eyes closing

摘要:Volitional eyes closing (EC), which shifts brain's information processing modes from the "exteroceptive" to "interoceptive" state, can promote behaviors (such as episodic memory) that exhibit significant sex difference. Although this act is known to reconfigure a large-scale brain network as its neural correlates, sex difference in such network reconfiguration remains unexplored. Here, we compared between genders the EC-effects on functional network, focusing on the intersubject variability in functional connectivity (IVFC), modularity index, local efficiency, and clustering coefficient. While reliable EC-effects were observed in both genders, females demonstrated greater alterations in IVFC and modularity index than males. Moreover, the female-biased effects of EC were supported by a large-scale cortical basis, primarily affecting the default-mode and visual networks. Finally, a positive relationship was discovered between the sex difference of EC-effects and that of brain anatomy. Jointly, our findings suggested that biological sex serves as a potential factor influencing EC's neural correlates, with widespread impacts on cognitive systems and close link to brain anatomy.
