题名:Parents' Perception of Children's Problem Behaviors, Emotional Dysregulation, and Coparenting: Actor-Partner Interdependence Model.

摘要:Coparenting plays a critical role in promoting family members' well-being and overall family functioning. However, the predictors and underlying mechanisms of coparenting-particularly the influence of child behaviors on parental interactions-remain insufficiently explored. This study employed a longitudinal actor-partner interdependence mediation model (APIMeM) with a three-wave, two-year follow-up of 660 mother-father dyads of fourth-grade children (fathers: M_age = 34.95 years, SD = 5.59; mothers: M_age = 32.98 years, SD = 5.70). The study aimed to investigate the association between parents' perception of children's problem behaviors and their coparenting practices, with a particular focus on the mediating role of parental emotional dysregulation. Results indicated that parents' perception of children's problem behaviors significantly predicted their own coparenting behavior but did not directly influence their partner's coparenting behavior. Emotional dysregulation emerged as a key mediator: parents' perception of children's problem behaviors predicted their own emotional dysregulation, which in turn affected their own coparenting behavior. Furthermore, these perceptions also predicted their partner's emotional dysregulation, which subsequently influenced the partner's coparenting behavior. By adopting a child-effects perspective, this study offers new insights into the antecedents and mechanisms of coparenting and highlights emotional dysregulation as a critical mediating process. The findings provide empirical support for developing prevention and intervention strategies that promote healthier coparenting dynamics in families.

题名:The longitudinal relationship between fear of missing out and problematic mobile phone use in adolescents: Compensation for psychological distress rather than fulfillment of psychological needs

摘要:Background: Adolescents’ problematic mobile phone use (PMPU) has become an increasing concern, with emerging research suggesting that social and psychological factors may play a significant role in its development. One factor is Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), which has been linked to increased mobile phone use. However, the mechanisms through which FoMO contributes to PMPU remain unclear, particularly regarding the role of psy chological distress and unmet psychological needs. Objective: This study investigates the impact of FoMO on PMPU among adolescents, with a focus on whether FoMO leads to PMPU through psychological distress or unmet psychological needs. Methods: A sample of 1072 adolescents was surveyed across three time points. To analyze the data, this study employed Random Intercept Cross-Lagged Panel Models and Latent Growth Models. Results: The results revealed that psychological distress mediated the relationship between FoMO and PMPU. However, psychological needs did not show a significant mediation effect at the within-person level. Further more, no mediation effect was found for the growth rate of these variables in the relationship between FoMO and PMPU. Notably, FoMO positively predicted the growth rates of psychological needs, and the growth rate of psychological distress positively predicted the growth rate of PMPU among adolescents. Conclusions: This study underscores the significant role of psychological distress in the development of PMPU among adolescents. The f indings suggest that interventions targeting emotional states, particularly those addressing psychological distress, could help mitigate the negative effects of FoMO on adolescents’ problematic mobile phone use.

题名:A Modified Hidden Markov Model for Detecting Insufficient Effort Responses in Questionnaires

摘要:Insufficient effort response (IER) significantly compromises the quality of questionnaire data, affecting the validity of resulting inferences. Traditional methods for detecting IER often fail to adequately capture various types of IER or consider participants' internal state transitions. This study expanded the hidden Markov model for analyzing participants' response strategies by reconstructing response and response time (RT) models that target the identification of IER in the context of questionnaires. The method takes into account the characteristics of IER in terms of response and RT, with the aim of dynamically detecting various types of IER. The simulation study demonstrated that a modified hidden Markov model (M-HMM) effectively recovers parameters, with its detection sensitivity primarily influenced by the prevalence of IER, differences in RT distributions between insufficient and effortful responses, and variations in IER severity and type among participants. Utilizing the M-HMM to analyze empirical data allowed for a deeper understanding of IER occurrences and improved item quality assessment, offering valuable insights for practitioners.

题名:Using a deep learning-based visual computational model to identify cognitive strategies in matrix reasoning

摘要:Constructive matching and response elimination strategies are two primarily used cognitive strategies in Raven's Advanced Progressive Matrices (APM), a valid measurement instrument of general intelligence. Identifying strategies is necessary for conducting studies on the relationship between cognitive strategy and other cognitive factors and for cognitive strategy training. However, the strategy identification method used in research is either subjective, or the information in the behavior data is not fully utilized, or it is limited by the size of the sample and cannot be widely used. Therefore, this study trained a convolutional neural network-based visual computational model (CVC) for cognitive strategy identification based on eye movement images. Focusing on the APM, the trained CVC can be used for strategy identification by learning and mining the pattern information in the eye movement images with predefined training labels from a psychometric model. An empirical study was conducted to illustrate the training and application of the CVC. Utilizing the trained CVC and a developed graphical user interface application, the primary finding of the study reveals a high level of agreement in strategy identification between the CVC and the psychometric model, as well as between the CVC and expert judgment. This implies that, akin to the psychometric model, the CVC can be used to identify the two cognitive strategies of constructive matching and response elimination. Overall, the proposed deep learning-based model follows the data-driven perspective and provides a new way of studying cognitive strategy in the APM by presenting objective and quantitative identification results.

题名:Associations between problematic QQ use and mental health among Chinese children and adolescents: A latent class analysis

摘要:Background: The rise of problematic social media use among children and adolescents is often associated with significant physical and psychosocial effects. In China, QQ, a popular social media platform among youth, has become a major mental health concern due to its excessive use. The present study aimed to explore the association between QQ addiction and negative mental health through a Latent Class Analysis (LCA). Methods: The study data were collected from a sample of 1006 Chinese school students (49.8% male; age M = 13.32, SD = 1.34 years) through a paper-pencil survey using the convenience sampling technique. Results: LCA identified three latent groups based on QQ addiction symptom scores: No-risk (77.2%), At-risk (16.8%), and High-risk (6.0%). The analysis revealed that children and adolescents in the High-risk class exhibited significantly higher levels of depression, anxiety, emotional problems, conduct issues, hyperactivity, and peer problems, as well as lower life satisfaction and prosocial behaviors compared to the No-risk and At-risk groups (p < 0.05), signifying a strong association between problematic QQ use and poor mental health. Conclusions: Mental health professionals would benefit from designing intervention plans to mitigate the negative mental health among the High-risk and At-risk classes of problematic QQ users.
